{Happy Mistake}

I made a happy mistake

When I met you that night

After a long day.

The shop smelled of coffee,

A Christmas Carol in your hand.

You made it clear your disdain…

For Jazz,

For my shirt,

For my work.

But, oddly, I became content…

With your shyness.

Challenging myself to win

Your highest regards

Soon became my only passion.

I went places I had never been

to earn

Your respect

Your care

And your love.
